-Races Inhabiting Xar`raj-
Race Name | Description |
Human | The humans are the
most adept at creating weapons and armor. At one time, humans made up the majority of the
population on Xar`raj. However, they suffered the heaviest losses during the War. Almost
70% of all the world population of humans were killed during the War. Over the last 70
years their numbers have grown quite considerably. Humans generally live up to 100 years. |
Elf | There are several
different subgroupings of elf. Different groups live in different types of land, have
different beliefs, and many other differences. They are almost separate races, having only
their general physical forms in common. The elf has one of the longest life spans on the
planet, with an average life span of 275-325 years. |
Kanus | The kanus are a race
of creatures that resemble bipedal earth wolves. Like the elves, the kanus have several
groups within their race. Long ago the kanus leaders decided to separate their land into
three provinces. Part of this agreement included peace treaties and allowances for
immigration. kanus are generally 6'4" to 6'10" tall. kanus generally live about
150 years. |
Kallah | The Kallah are similar to the
Kanus except that they are bipedal tigers. The kallah are very few in number and inhabit a
small area in the northern forests. They are generally 6'2" to 6'10" tall
and live around 160 years. |
Thepa | The Thepa are a proud
race of reptilian men similar to the lizard men described in AD&D text. The Thepa live
by a strict code of honor. Honor is held above family and even personal wellbeing. They
are the only known race that played no part in the Great War. Until recently, the Thepa
lived on a small island in the Jericoan Sea. The Thepa are now spreading out and
discovering other cultures. They are viewed by most others as strangers, but are generally
treated fairly. Thepa have scaly, thick skin and can be many shades of green or brown,
sometimes both. The Thepa have the longest life span on the planet, with an average
lifetime of 400 years. |
Kender | Kender are small
enough to resemble human children, though they are more heavily muscled. Males are
typically 3'7" tall and weigh 75lbs; females are slightly smaller. Adult Kender are
rarely more than four feet tall and seldom weigh more than 100lbs. |
Orc | Orcs are one of the
monster races on Xar`raj. They are normally lawful evil NPCs, but an odd exception is
possible. Orcs follow the standard rules that are described in the Player Option : Skills
and Powers book. Orcs can live up to 60 years. |
Ogre | Ogres are a very large
race of monsters. They conform to the Player Option : Skills and Powers description. Ogres
are also usually lawful evil and would normally be an NPC. Anything is possible however.
Ogres can live to be approximately 120 years old. |
Troll | The troll was an
experiment by Zel`nar while he was in the earthly plane. He wanted to create the ultimate
warrior, and nearly did before his banishment. Trolls are huge, strong, and have the
ability to regenerate hit points that they lose in combat at an alarming rate. Trolls are
also very resistant to most magic, excluding fire. Fire is the greatest weakness of the
troll, and they cannot regenerate damage done to them by flames. There are few trolls in
existance due to their very long gestation period and lack of mating interests. Trolls are
killers, not lovers. Trolls live almost as long as elves, about 200-225 years. |
Kobold | The kobold is an odd
little creature. They were originally created by some small groups of pagan Trolls who
believed their creator had failed them. During their ritual mating, mostly with the
mountain dwelling felines of the north, the troll males sired a sickly breed of creature,
the kobold. Large amounts of inbreeding created a pool of kobolds large enough to begin a
racial group. Presently, all kobolds look fairly similar. They are about 4 feet tall with
long, thin limbs, short cat-like whiskers. Though very haphazard looking, the kobolds have
a very brief gestation period and thus multiply on a scale rivaling earth's rabbits. They
lack strength, but make up by their large numbers. Though a new race, there are currently
over 1 million kobolds on Xar`raj. Kobolds are usually fairly intellegent (6-8), and live
to be about 80 years old. |
Goblin | Goblins were created
by Zel'nar to represent a twisted version of an elf with their pointed ears and thin
limbs. Similar to the kobold in many ways, the goblins are small and weak, and make up for
their size through numbers. |
Hobgoblin | The hobgoblins are
very dedicated to their war efforts. Hobgoblins are very distrusting of mages and magic.
They also have no use for gods or priests. Some hobgoblin tribes do, however, worship the
black and red dragons in the monster homelands. |
Gnoll | Gnolls are hyena-like
humanoids with mangy yellow or brown fur, drooling muzzles full of long, sharp teeth, and
gaunt but powerful frames. They give the impression of starving scavengers, with the
disposition to match, and they are among the most chaotic and faithless of all humanoids.
Gnolls have a hard time seeing past the moment, and patience is a virtue unheard of in
gnoll society. |
